Clinical Duties and Responsibilities: To participate in the provision of the cardiac rhythm management including remote monitoringservice, related actions on field safety notices (FSNs) and technical invasive cardiologyservice and assist during the full range of cardiac procedures undertaken within diagnosticsand the angiography suite. To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of all technical cardiacprocedures (invasive and non-invasive). To assist with the efficient running of the technical service by prioritising the daily workloadwhere appropriate. To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations maintainingcontrol and requesting assistance as necessary.

To be responsible for identifying equipment faults and directly resolve fault issues byreporting them in a timely manner. To provide first line interpretation and full technical reports of individual tests performed whilstreviewing/assisting with the reporting of studies performed by junior staff members. To remain up to date with latest trends in clinical physiology translating these into practiceand transferring this knowledge to staff within ones area of responsibility. To assist with research studies as required.

To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care. To undertake service provision and/or training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, asrequired. To participate in the 24/7 on-call service provided by the Clinical Physiology department, asrequired.Managerial: To ensure that all data entered on the invasive database is timely and accurate and thatstatistical records and audits are produced when required. To deputise for the Operational Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist when necessaryfor management of the department.

To be responsible for the management of junior cardiac physiology personnel To assist with the recruitment and retention of staff within the Clinical MeasurementsDepartment To assist with all aspects of the organisation and performance of the invasive angiographyservice including management of the primary PCI rota and service for physiologists. To work with the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist to ensure proceduresare in place to achieve Government targets in Cardiac Physiology services To assist in the development of protocols, guidelines, and policies within the department inorder to achieve IQIPS accreditation. To implement local policies and guidelines and ensure these are adhered to at all times andensure these incorporate current professional recommendations and evidence-basedpractice To work in accordance with standards set by the Society for Cardiological Sciences andTechnology (SCST) and the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) To be familiar with the use of Cerner, Solus and Pacenet and any other computerisedsystems integral to the running of the department. Communication with manufacturers/suppliers regarding stock and/or equipmentmanagement; ensuring adequate stock control and that staff are aware of economical use ofsupplies To manage own time to achieve a balance between clinical and administrative duties.

To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Operational Manager &Principal Cardiac Physiologist or his deputies. To authorise agency/overtime/sickness in line with local policies. To undertake service provision and/or training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, asrequired.

To supervise the training, development and appraisal of professional competence of all staffwithin ones area of responsibility. To demonstrate leadership, achieving good morale with open communication between alllevels of staff and disciplines. Contribute to and actively participate in the correct reporting and handling of incidents andaccidents.Educational: To actively participate and commit to maintaining own personal professional development,identifying educational and clinical training needs in conjunction with the OperationalManager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist To maintain professional accreditation through appropriate Continuous Professional andPersonal Development. To ensure that own mandatory training is up to date.

To participate in the training and development of local competencies of junior staff within thedepartment. To actively maintain a progressive learning environment for all grades and disciplines of staffwithin the area of responsibility. To support a rigorous training programme within the department ensuring all physiologistsattain state registration.Administration: To register patient attendances on the departments Solus database To book appointments onto Solus, facilitating patient choice To be familiar with Cerner, Solus and Pacenet to track patient progression, case notes, andpatient demographicand episode details. To order portering services on the Cerner to facilitate movement of patients and/orequipment.

To communicate efficiently on the telephone with all staff, patients, and visitors To maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the department. To be cost-effective in the use of equipment and resources. To telephone patients who fail to attend for their appointment, rebooking patients as perpatient choice, and to telephone outstanding returns of ambulatory monitors. To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Operational Manager &Principal Cardiac Physiologist or his deputies.

To conduct self in a professional manner and act as a role model to junior staff/students atall times. To undertake training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, as required. To amend patient bookings to reflect any changes in their procedure from that initially bookedonto the database. To support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonablyfit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work
