Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, flexible and conscientious individual to join our small Catering team at Wansbeck General Hospital working as a Cook / Team Leader.
The role is based on the below shift pattern, enhanced rate applies to weekend and bank holiday working. Please ensure that you have availability to meet these shift requirements before applying.

Main duties of the job
As Cook , you have responsibility for the receipt of goods and produce, checking for quality of goods, temperature, correct quantity as per order to suppliers and the storage of such goods in the appropriate area within the time limits set out in the department policy on HACCP.
You must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and compliance with the department policy on HACCP.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare food for patients and/or staff using both cook/chill products and fresh produce, and to be able to check temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations.
You will be responsible for supervising the small team whilst on duty.

To provide a high quality catering service for patients, staff and visitors trust-wide. The receipt, checking for quality, temperature, correct quantity as per order to suppliers and thestorage of such goods in the appropriate area within the time limits set out in the departmentpolicy on HACCP. To be able to demonstrate the ability to serve food to patients and/or staff and to be able tocheck temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations. Cleanliness of their own workstation and adopt a policy of clean as you go and in particular thecleaning of slicing machines and other areas to the appropriate standard. The preparation, cooking and dispatch of all types of meals whether fresh, frozen or chilled. Must be able to demonstrate an awareness of the Food Safety Act and be able to work to thehighest standards in both quality and hygiene. To be able to monitor the distribution of meals from the ward trolleys, and the service of mealsto the patients, in adherence of the Trust policy. To comply with all mandatory training requirements for Hygiene, Fire, Manual Handling andany other training deemed necessary for the efficient running of catering services.
