The predicted salary is between 1300 - 1800 £ per month.

We have a position available for a Catering Assistant to join the team. As part of this role you will maintain the standards of cleanliness throughout the work areas using approved methods. All successful applicants pay for their own DBS certificate, which is deducted from the first monthly pay.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of foodstuffs and general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Catering Department.
  • Service of food to patients on the ward, to visitors and staff in the dining room and restaurant.
  • Operation in the central dish wash area, including operating the central dish wash machine, cleaning, drying and checking staff/ward crockery and cutlery.
  • Receipt, checking for quality, temperature and correct quantity of supplies and storage of goods in the appropriate area within HACCP limits.
  • Preparation of vegetables, fruits, salads, sandwiches, hot snacks and beverages where applicable.
  • Cleaning of premises and equipment to the required standard and compliance with the Food Hygiene Policy and Codes of Practice.
  • Assist with re‑restocking vending machines and operation of the Staff Dining Room cash register.
  • Cover for holidays and sickness and work all areas of the Catering Department when required.
  • Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, hygiene, fire drills, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other necessary courses.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a catering or food service role preferred.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Food Temperature Regulations and NHS Food Hygiene Policy.
  • Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) checks and additional pre‑employment checks in line with CQC and statutory guidance.
  • Compliance with DBS certificate payment method and use of the Employer’s DBS policy.
  • Self‑reliance, flexibility and willingness to cover all catering areas.
