Quite simply, the NHS could not function without our Domestics. Every service in the Trust relies on domestics to keep the place clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff. You will be part of a team striving to maintain the highest cleanliness standards in wards, departments, corridors and offices, and in doing so make a real difference to the NHS.
The successful applicant will be employed by the subsidiary, not Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities- Maintain the standard of cleanliness as specified throughout the designated work area by means of approved cleaning methods.
- Clean floor areas as scheduled by vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
- Undertake "deep cleans" in areas where infection is present.
- Remove rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
- Clean sanitary areas, toilets, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
- Damp dust all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
- Clean internal glass.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
- Carry out urgent spot cleaning and manage spills as required.
- Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, health and safety at work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate.

- Applicants must meet Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) with additional pre-employment checks in line with CQC and statutory guidance.
- DBS disclosure: where required, applicants pay for their own DBS certification (salary deduction from the first monthly pay).
- Ability to work shifts within the department’s operating hours (example provided: 07:00 – 20:00 with morning and afternoon shifts available).
