Job overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and determined, forward thinking pharmacy technician to join our clinical pharmacy team working into the Pharmacy Procurement Team. The successful candidate will participate in the delivery of a patient focused, clinical service to medical patients with an emphasis on clinical pharmacy and procurement. There will be opportunities to lead on quality improvement and service evaluation projects. In addition to the potential to develop clinically through vocational and accredited training courses and sessions.
Main duties of the job: Within your area of responsibility, you will:
- Provide safe and high-quality patient care
- Ensure the safe delivery of medicines management related to medication within the trust
Detailed job description and main responsibilities: To provide technical support on pharmaceutical matters, medicines management issues and medicines legislation within a delegated area of responsibility on a routine basis, but also, whenever required, to other specialist areas e.g. ward/clinical setting, aseptic services. The role will require team working as part of the many multidisciplinary teams as outlined above, as well as a need to be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
Qualifications:
- BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification.
- Regional Qualification or equivalent for Medicines Management for Pharmacy Technicians.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Evidence of relevant specialist continuing professional development.
- To have successfully completed an appropriate accredited technician checking qualification.
- A1 or equivalent NVQ assessor qualification.
- IT skills to include pharmacy systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Relevant evidence of CPD demonstrating that their knowledge and training are current and show evidence of revalidation if appropriate.
