We are excited to advertise a post within our Upper GI Surgery team. Our elective upper GI workload includes all aspects of biliary work, bariatric surgery, and anti-reflux surgery. We have an established comprehensive bariatric MDT, primary and revisional bariatric surgery. We deal with all types of hernia repairs including abdominal wall reconstruction and have an established Complex Abdominal Wall MDT. We provide in-house oesophageal physiology studies. Elective care is delivered across multiple sites and we are the largest trust by geography in the country. We are a very high-volume emergency cholecystectomy service and competence in this is essential. We are in the top three Trusts nationally for day case fundoplication and cholecystectomies. We have a well-established robotic surgery programme with two DaVinci robot platforms, one of which is available for the upper GI team. Training will be available to those interested.
A job plan of 10 PAs will be made up of direct/virtual clinical contact including outpatient activity, theatre, endoscopy, emergency work and ACU work along with admin and SPA time. The successful candidate will be on the Upper GI emergency on-call rota. The successful candidate should have undergone specialist training in upper gastrointestinal surgery and laparoscopic surgery and be competent in emergency surgery. JAG accreditation for upper GI endoscopies is also expected.

Job Responsibilities: The job plan will typically include an average of 8 programmed activities for direct clinical care duties and 2 programmed activities for supporting professional activities. Person Specification:
Essential:- Fully registered on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register or specialist registrars within 6 months of CCT at date of application.
- FRCS (Fellow Royal College of Surgeons) or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration.
- Clinical training and experience in the relevant specialty, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in general surgery.
- Clinical governance experience.
- ATLS certification.
