We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic RSRN Project Officer to join our Red Squirrel Recovery Network Team. The role will support red squirrel conservation by building strong relationships with volunteers, landowners, woodland owners, partners and stakeholders.
The postholder will provide advice on red squirrel conservation and grey squirrel management, help groups access land and secure funding, oversee conservation planning and delivery, and work with colleagues to increase red squirrel populations on NWT sites while sharing learning across the partnership.
The role will involve acting as the main contact for local squirrel groups and volunteers in Northumberland, representing the RSRN programme and being an advocate for red squirrel conservation. It will also involve drawing up landowner conservation strategies and management plans for red squirrels, managing environmental grant contracts end-to-end, as well as delivering vital training and conducting regular woodland and spring surveys.
This job is being offered as 35 hours per week with a contract that will last until 31st March 2030. The salary starts at £26,981 per annum. The deadline for applications is 9.00 on 27th July 2026. An application form and job pack can be found on our website. Please note CV’s cannot be accepted.
