We are seeking a small team of dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistants / Support Workers to provide 2:1 support for a 15-year-old young man with complex care needs in the Palmersville area of North Tyneside. This is an opportunity to join a supportive family environment and make a meaningful difference to a young person’s daily life, wellbeing, and independence. The young man lives at home with his family in a fully adapted property designed to meet his care and mobility needs. He currently has an experienced PA who has supported him for a number of years; however, additional team members are now required to provide ongoing 2:1 support.
Support Duties:
- Personal care
- Moving and handling
- Administration of medication via gastrostomy
- Oral suctioning to maintain airway patency
- Supporting clinical care needs
- Assisting with daily routines and activities
- Providing safe, attentive, and person-centred care
He also requires overnight BiPAP support via a non‑invasive facial mask. Full training will be provided in all aspects of his care. Additional care requirements include:
- Four‑limb cerebral palsy
- Epilepsy
- Severe learning disabilities
- Cortical visual impairment
- No verbal communication
He is fed via a gastrostomy tube with a blended diet and requires carers who are attentive, patient, and able to develop a good understanding of his individual communication cues and routines.
Qualifications and Attributes:
