We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative Communications and Marketing Officer (Projects) to join our Communications & Development team and help us share the difference these projects are making.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional who enjoys working across a range of projects, building relationships and turning complex information into engaging stories and content that connect with different audiences.
You’ll work closely with project managers, colleagues, partners, funders and stakeholders to develop and deliver communications and marketing activity that supports project objectives, strengthens partnerships and demonstrates impact.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play an important role in communicating the work and achievements of Northumberland National Park Authority’s strategic and externally funded projects. This will include:
- Developing and delivering communications plans for projects, ensuring activities, outputs and outcomes reach the right audiences.
- Creating engaging content including case studies, newsletters, website content, social media, presentations and promotional materials .
- Researching, writing and distributing media releases and project updates across traditional and digital channels.
- Supporting consultation and engagement activities, including workshops, events, meetings and digital engagement.
- Gathering stories, data, photography, video and stakeholder feedback to demonstrate project impact and success.
- Supporting project managers and teams to develop communications and engagement approaches that meet project objectives and funder requirements.
- Helping maintain clear records of communications and engagement activity and contributing to monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- Developing positive relationships with project partners, funders, community organisations and other stakeholders.
- Supporting internal communications to ensure colleagues, members and volunteers are informed and engaged.
- Monitoring media coverage, digital analytics and stakeholder feedback and using this information to help demonstrate impact.
- Representing the Authority and its projects at meetings, events, conferences and stakeholder forums when required.
You’ll also contribute to the wider delivery of the Authority’s Communications Strategy and work collaboratively across the organisation to maximise the visibility and impact of our projects.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is a confident communicator, creative storyteller and strong relationship builder , with the organisational skills to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
You’ll have:
- Experience working in a communications role.
- Experience creating content for websites, newsletters and social media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination skills.
- The ability to work independently, use your initiative and manage competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Experience monitoring and reporting on communications activity.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and WordPress, alongside an understanding of digital channels, social media and content creation.
- An understanding of monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple teams and stakeholders.
Most importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic, proactive, creative and solutions-focused , with a passion for Northumberland National Park and the ability to communicate its value to others.
Experience of externally funded projects, evaluation reports and impact case studies would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the environmental, heritage, cultural or community sectors. Experience of the North East tourism, heritage or environmental sectors, or skills in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, would also be welcome.
