Northumberland National Park Authority is looking to add creative expertise to its Communications and Development team. As Design and Content Officer, you’ll create striking, high-impact design and content across print, digital, social and video, bringing the National Park brand to life for a range of audiences. From corporate documents such as the National Park’s Management Plan to social media campaigns, your work will sit at the heart of how we tell the story of Northumberland National Park.
Working closely with colleagues in the Communications and Development team, you’ll be a guardian of our brand, a creative partner to colleagues and a hands-on designer who thrives on variety, pace and creative problem solving.
Key Responsibilities- Digital Content Creation
- Create digital content for use across social media, website, email marketing and digital campaigns.
- Shoot and edit photography and video that captures the Park, its communities, and events.
- Develop content tailored to different platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Work with the communications team to analyse digital engagement data and use insights to refine content and improve performance.
- Support the Head of Communications and Development with the management of external content producers and providers such as photographers and filmmakers.
- Graphic Design & Creative Production
- Design and produce a range of print and digital assets including:
- Leaflets, brochures, infographics and guides in line with the brand guidelines
- Posters, banners and event materials
- Advertisements (digital and print)
- Ensure all design outputs reflect brand guidelines and uphold accessibility and inclusivity standards.
- Liaise with printers, agencies and suppliers, ensuring cost effective, sustainable production.
- Liaise with external designers on work where required, such as interpretation panels and exhibitions.
- Brand, Campaigns & Communications Support
- Contribute creative ideas for campaigns that promote projects, recreation, conservation, tourism, volunteering and community engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teams across the Authority including but not limited to: Visitor Services, Rangers, Conservation, Farming, Engagement and Fundraising.
- Capture on the ground activity, events and stories to support content pipelines and organisational storytelling.
- Support crisis or reactive communications through rapid content development when needed.
- Content Planning & Workflow
- Maintain content calendars and assets, ensuring a steady flow of fresh and relevant material.
- Organise and archive photography, video and design files following agreed asset management practices.
- Experience
- Proven experience in digital content creation (photography, videography, editing, social media).
- Experience creating content for diverse audiences, adhering to accessibility best practice.
- Experience managing social media platforms and scheduling tools.
- Skills
- Strong graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro or equivalent).
- Creative thinker with an eye for brand consistency and audience engagement.
- Basic editing skills (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
- Strong organisational and communication skills.

- Full UK driving licence is desirable due to the rural nature of the National Park.
