Job Description

CLIMATE CHANGE OFFICER 

Northumberland National Park is one of England’s most beautiful and unspoiled natural landscapes, encompassing rugged moorlands, rolling hills, and diverse wildlife. As the Climate Change Officer, you will join a passionate team dedicated to preserving and enhancing the park’s unique environment for future generations. Our vision includes tackling the pressing challenges of climate change while fostering sustainable development within the park and its surrounding communities. 

Position Overview:  

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Climate Change Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in helping Northumberland National Park Authority address the impacts of climate change. You will develop, implement, and monitor initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing the resilience of the park and its communities. 

With the value of national parks having been highlighted to be more relevant than ever in helping address some of the greatest challenges facing society, from action on climate change and recovering nature and supporting people’s health and well-being, it’s a great time to join our ambitious organisation making a real impact. 

  • Full time (37 hours per week) 
  • Fixed term to 31.5.27
  • £33366 – £37,035 per annum  
  • Based Hexham, Northumberland 

About you: 

  • You will be educated to degree level in an environmental, land management or project management related discipline or have an equivalent level of experience. 
  • You will have clear and demonstrable knowledge of current Climate Change or Natural Environment policy. 
  • You will have Climate change / Net Zero reporting experience or relevant qualification.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular an ability to discuss and negotiate effectively with others. 
  • The ability to support and drive organisational change. 
  • You will have a strong track record of working with partners in collaborative projects. 
  • Obvious passion for addressing climate change
