Overview

We are looking for experienced Social Workers (post‑qualification or successful ASYE) to join the Adults, Ageing & Wellbeing Directorate’s Substance and Alcohol Team (SaAT).

Key responsibilities

  • Support adults affected by substance and alcohol misuse to improve wellbeing, promote abstinence and achieve recovery.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and manage a caseload with autonomy and supportive guidance from the Team Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, voluntary sector partners and community services to deliver person‑centred support.
  • Develop expertise in complex safeguarding and substance misuse interventions, maintaining knowledge of the Care Act and the Local Authority’s statutory duties.
  • Attend regular supervision and provide consistent reporting to team leadership.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Successfully completed the UK Skills for Care ASYE programme.
  • Valid UK driving licence and ability to use a car for work purposes.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
