Environmental Enforcement Officer
Location: Council’s Stakeford Depot, Choppington, NE62 5TR.
Job Overview
The Environmental Enforcement Team (EET) is recruiting an experienced Environmental Enforcement Officer (EEO) to support enforcement activities across Northumberland.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol and investigate incidents of fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, accumulations, graffiti, dog fouling, and litter enforcement.
- Conduct PACE interviews and handle complaints.
- Manage evidence and prepare prosecution files.
- Collaborate with residents, elected members, local councils, legal team, and the broader EET.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and courtfile preparation.
- Support duty of care investigations.
Requirements
- Good standard of literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills.
- Experience of enforcement procedures: patrolling, complaint investigation, PACE interviewing, case management, and courtfile preparation.
- Excellent communication and customer handling skills.
- Full driving licence.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation is an advantage.
