An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Northumberland Sensory Support Service as a permanent, 0.8fte Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD). The successful candidate will work throughout the Northumberland area on a peripatetic basis, in a variety of settings including in the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct intervention teaching in a classroom, 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Provide advisory, child‑centred practice, collaborating with other relevant professionals.
  • Work under the umbrella of the Low Incidence Needs Team supporting children and young people aged 0‑25.
  • Travel across Northumberland as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or equivalent.
  • Preferably at least 3 years teaching experience.
  • Experience working with students who have a hearing loss.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team, with flexibility, enthusiasm, commitment, and a sense of humour.
