Admin Assistant - Temporary staff bank contract until 30/09/2026. Full-time hours available (37 hours) at Eddie Ferguson House, Blyth. We are looking to recruit an Admin Assistant to join our Adult Services Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team on a temporary basis.
About the role
You will provide a high-quality administrative and clerical support service to a busy, multi-disciplinary team. This is a varied role where you’ll play a key part in supporting day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and typing support, including maintaining databases and processing information
- Handle telephone and reception duties, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism when dealing with callers
- Carry out general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and processing financial documentation (including petty cash)
- Support the wider administrative team, including providing cover when required (this may involve travelling to other local sites)
- Maintain and order stationery and office supplies
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the nature and grade of the post
About you
- Previous administrative experience is essential
- Experience of handling telephone enquiries in a busy environment
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.
