Activity Leadership Apprentice (Level 2)

We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Activity Leadership Level 2 Apprentice to join our Sports Development team and help deliver exciting community sports programmes across southeast and central Northumberland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience while developing your skills in sports coaching, activity leadership and community engagement.
You'll work alongside experienced sports professionals supporting weekly and holiday programmes for children, young people and adults across communities including Ashington, Newbiggin, Choppington, Cramlington, Blyth and Bedlington.
Face to face training for the apprenticeship will take place monthly in Newcastle (exact location to be confirmed), and the successful candidate must be able to meet the location requirements of the role.
Interviews will be held week commencing 7th September 2026
What you'll be doing
- Support the planning and delivery of sports sessions, festivals and events.
- Assist with leading activities and coaching sessions as your skills and confidence develop.
- Help create inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, including under-represented groups.
- Build positive relationships with participants, coaches, volunteers and partner organisations.
- Set up and check sports equipment, ensuring facilities are safe, clean and welcoming.
- Maintain attendance records and support the smooth running of sessions.
- Promote health, safety and safeguarding at all times.
- Contribute to helping more people become active and stay active within their local communities.
