An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who is experienced and passionate about delivering elections and electoral registration to lead the Council's elections and electoral registration functions, delivering a legally compliant, efficient and customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the delivery of elections and electoral registration, providing advice and expertise in this area, motivating the team to high levels of performance, managing staff workload and supervision and appraisal of team members.
  • Show excellent communication skills and experience of engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders using tact and diplomacy, creativity and innovation to find solutions and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Be a dynamic and motivated individual with experience and enthusiasm for all aspects of electoral services and a track record of high performance in a demanding role.
  • Work with our Returning Officer, Elections Project Board and various stakeholders, bringing expertise and resourcefulness, strong organisational and motivational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities, whilst building relationships across the organisation and externally.

The role is based at County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland with hybrid working. Travel to different locations across the County will be necessary.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience, with evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Certificate or Diploma from the Association of Electoral Administrators or equivalent is desirable.
  • Ability to meet transport requirements of the post.
