We are entering exciting times in waste collection, with separate food collections and Simpler Recycling, where we will be collecting a wider range of recyclable materials and we want you to be part of the journey.
The job may require you to work on our large fleet of refuse and recycling vehicles, alongside our brand-new fleet of state-of-the-art food waste collection vehicles.
As a Refuse & Recycling Loader you will:
- Provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community in West Northumberland.
- Ensure that general waste and recycling is collected as per schedule and streets, homes and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to all members of the community that we serve.
We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic individuals who are keen to work as part of a dedicated team based at our Stakeford Depot in Choppington.
Requirements of the Job
- Hardworking and physically fit and healthy due to the nature of the business.
- You will have the relevant knowledge of the range of tasks, together with the operation of associated tools and equipment and an appreciation and interest in the need for the service.
- You will have the strength, dexterity and co-ordination to manoeuvre bins and operate hydraulics and the specialist skills associated with the operation of hydraulic equipment.
- Willing to go the extra mile whilst on your rounds and hold plenty of enthusiasm and a big smile.
- You must be able to cope with the regular high level of physical demand and have the ability to maintain general awareness to ensure safe working conditions.
- You will be a front-line member of staff representing Northumberland County Council. You will have responsibility to keep the area remaining beautiful, safe and a clean place to live and work, a responsibility we take great pride in.
- Team player - You will work as part of the wider refuse collection team.
- Punctual - You will be able to turn up for work on time, ready for the day ahead.
