About The College
Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.
Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.
The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region
Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. About The Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed education professional who is passionate about delivering an outstanding learner experience and achieving excellent outcomes. You will have strong teaching, learning and assessment skills, with the ability to lead and develop high-quality curriculum provision, support student progress and promote positive destinations. You will be organised, data-informed and proactive, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, provide effective pastoral support and respond positively to the needs of all learners. A commitment to continuous professional development, safeguarding, inclusion and creating a positive, supportive learning environment is essential.
About The Role
Working closely with the Curriculum Manager, you will play an active role in reviewing and developing curriculum intent, ensuring that high-quality, well-sequenced learning is planned and delivered through career-focused schemes of learning, session plans and appropriate resources. You will take ownership of the timely maintenance and accuracy of programme and course-level data throughout the student journey, supporting excellence and continual improvement. This will include regularly reviewing and evaluating programme and course performance in line with curriculum planning and the curriculum performance review cycle. You will also play an active role in the ongoing development and implementation of new programmes of study, ensuring they meet the needs of learners, industry and the organisation.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead high-quality pre-entry, initial assessment and induction processes to ensure learners are placed on the right programme and their individual needs are met.
- Provide effective pastoral care, guidance and support throughout the learner journey, promoting positive progression into higher education, employment or other destinations.
- Monitor and support the progress and wellbeing of learners, including those with EHCPs or ALS needs, working closely with curriculum and learning support teams.
- Lead and promote exemplary teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring curriculum content, resources and pedagogy remain current, relevant and aligned with industry and awarding organisation requirements.
- Monitor student attendance, behaviour, progress and engagement, taking appropriate action and interventions where required and ensuring the student voice informs continuous improvement.
- Lead effective quality assurance and programme management, contribute to curriculum development and good practice, maintain high-quality course information and celebrate staff and student success.
Qualifications
- Level 3 construction related qualification.
- Level 2 English & Maths
- Level 5 diploma in education is desirable but not essential
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of two years industry experience
- Working collaboratively with students and colleagues to review student progress, supporting achievement of learning and personal development
- Evidence of undertaking professional development to maintain knowledge and skills and share through communities of practice
- Evidence of keeping up to date with industry/subject specialism knowledge, skills and behaviours
- Embed motivational, coaching, and skills development strategies to help students to progress and achieve
- Suitable to work with children and young people (Certificate of criminal record check via DBS)
