As a Changemaker, you will champion inclusive education, challenge barriers to participation, and develop innovative approaches that enable learners with SEND to thrive. You will help shape the future of post 16 SEND education by ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed and progress.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a specialist SEND study programme within the Farming and Agriculture setting. You will combine your vocational expertise with your passion for inclusive education to create engaging, career focused learning programmes that support learners with SEND to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for their next steps.

Working closely with curriculum leaders, learning support teams, employers, and external partners, you will lead all aspects of the learner journey, from recruitment and assessment through to achievement and progression. You will play a key role in curriculum innovation, quality improvement, and the development of industry relevant learning opportunities.

The role offers excellent opportunities for professional development, leadership experience, and involvement in shaping new and emerging SEND provision. You will also have access to a range of digital learning technologies and innovative teaching approaches designed to enhance the learner experience.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver a high quality SEND study programme within the Farming and Agriculture setting.
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement, and EHCP outcomes, taking action to support success.
  • Develop engaging and inclusive schemes of learning, resources, and assessment strategies.
  • Lead programme quality assurance activities and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Work with employers, families, and external agencies to support learner progression and positive destinations.
  • Support curriculum development, student recruitment activities, and the promotion of inclusive education across the college.

Qualifications

  • Degree in SEND, Youth Work, or a related subject area.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
  • Level 3 Assessor Qualification or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience of teaching or supporting young people with SEND.
  • Experience of planning, developing, and leading programmes or projects.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Ability to monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Ability to use digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and communication.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and learner wellbeing.
  • Passion for raising aspirations and improving outcomes for learners with SEND.
  • Vocational industry experience within Land Based Studies, Farming, Maintenance or a related sector.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • PGCE, Certificate in Education, or other teaching qualification.
  • SEND specialist qualification, such as Autism, SEMH, SpLD, SENCo, or specialist teaching.
  • Experience of leading Internal Quality Assurance activities within Further Education.
  • Experience of working with EHCPs and preparing learners for employment and adulthood outcomes.
  • Knowledge of current SEND legislation, reforms, and post 16 education policy.
  • Experience of employer engagement and supported internship or work based learning models.
  • Experience of embedding employability, independence, English, maths, and digital skills within vocational programmes.
