About The College
Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

About The Role
- Lead the planning, delivery and development of high‑quality ESOL programmes, ensuring they are well‑sequenced, inclusive and aligned to curriculum intent.
- Deliver exceptional teaching, learning and assessment that engages learners, promotes progression, and meets awarding‑body and college standards.
- Take ownership of programme‑level data, using it to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive a culture of continuous quality enhancement.
- Provide outstanding pastoral and academic support throughout the learner journey, including guidance, progress reviews, and intervention where required.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support teams and external agencies to ensure consistent learner experience, sharing good practice across the curriculum.
- Contribute to recruitment, induction and marketing activities, ensuring the right students are enrolled onto the right programmes and supported into positive destinations.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ESOL programmes, ensuring high‑quality curriculum planning, sequencing, and delivery that meet learner needs and align with college standards.
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, creating inclusive, engaging sessions and providing timely, constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement.
- Monitor and support student progress, including attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and academic development, taking proactive action and liaising with internal teams or external agencies where required.
- Oversee programme quality assurance, maintaining accurate data, leading internal and external quality processes, and driving continual improvement using learner feedback and performance indicators.
- Provide exceptional guidance throughout the learner journey, including interviews, induction, pastoral care, progression planning, and involvement in marketing and recruitment activities.
Qualifications
- A Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- A Level 6 subject qualification.
