About The College
Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.
As part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region. Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. This major £52 million+ investment comes on top of the College recently driving £14million into new facilities and resources at its existing sites.

About The Candidate

About The Role
This role provides strategic and operational leadership for Construction Industries provision across the college. The Curriculum Manager will lead curriculum planning, staff performance, learner outcomes and continuous improvement, ensuring provision aligns with EPNE’s Changemaking Curriculum ambitions. This is a great opportunity to shape modern, high‑quality construction education within an Outstanding college group. The role offers professional development through leadership practice, engagement with employers and the use of industry‑standard workshops, tools and digital quality systems to drive innovation and excellence. As a spoke of the Housing Innovation and Skills Academy (HICSA) in Sunderland College, the successful applicant will be at the forefront of collaboration and innovation across the group.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of Construction Industries programmes
- Line manage, support and develop teaching staff to deliver outstanding learning
- Monitor learner performance, progression and achievement, implementing timely interventions
- Ensure compliance with awarding bodies, funding rules, health and safety and inspection frameworks
- Develop strong employer and stakeholder partnerships to enhance curriculum relevance
- Oversee the effective management of workshops, resources and budgets
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent
- PGCE or relevant teacher training qualification
- Level 2 English and maths qualification
- Up‑to‑date Continuous Professional Development
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience of teaching and/or managing construction or built environment provision
- Proven ability to lead curriculum delivery and drive quality improvement
- Strong understanding of learner performance management and quality assurance
- Experience of staff leadership, coaching or performance management
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Sound knowledge of health and safety within construction workshop environments
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience of employer engagement, apprenticeships or work‑based learning
- Assessor, IQA or quality assurance experience
- Familiarity with inspection frameworks and self‑assessment processes
