About The College

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi‐million, state‐of‐the‐art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose‐built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

About The Candidate

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Programme Leader in Animal Management to join our ambitious team at Northumberland College, Kirkley Hall Campus, Ponteland. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping a high‐quality provision with a strong focus on Higher Education and Access to HE, supporting students to progress into further study and professional careers within the animal and land‐based sectors.

As a changemaker in this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of our students. You will bring experience of teaching within the HE and/or Access to HE sector, with a clear understanding of the academic standards, expectations and support required to help learners succeed at this level.

About The Role

  • The role is 0.7FTE (3.5 days per week) and based at Kirkley Hall Campus.
  • The role includes leading and delivering high‐quality teaching across Level 3, Access to HE and Higher Education programmes.
  • The successful candidate will drive excellence in student outcomes including recruitment, retention, achievement and progression.
  • The successful candidate will lead outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices across the programme.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, sequenced learning through career‐focused schemes of learning.
  • Provide an excellent experience to students through exemplary learning, teaching and standards of assessment.
  • Teach students to high standards using appropriate and varied student‐centred approaches, embracing learning technologies to enhance the student experience.
  • Actively engage in reflective practice and contribute to the wider professional development programme.
  • Liaise effectively with the wider support team to ensure appropriate and high‐quality academic support is provided as required.
  • Participate in college recruitment and marketing events where required.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and training or equivalent.
  • L6 Vocational qualification (minimum).
  • Level 2 Mathematics.
  • Level 2 English Language.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience of teaching in the FE/HE sector.
  • Experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
  • Experience of planning and delivery of animal management sessions.
  • Experience of keeping records of student progress against achievements.

Desirable Skills & Experience – (Optional)

  • L7 qualification in a relevant subject.
