Thomas Bewick Primary School currently have an exciting opportunity for a Unit Catering Manager to join the team, helping to co-ordinate day-to-day activities within the kitchen and ensuring quality services are provided to students and staff.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with school menu planning, food preparation and cooking. They will work within a wider team to ensure catering services are carried out efficiently on a daily basis, including stock control and ensuring duties are carried out within a set budget.

Main roles and responsibilities include:

  • Managing and contributing to the cooking of meals and adapting menus to accommodate dietary requirements as necessary.
  • Ensuring that kitchen resources are used effectively and efficiently at all times.
  • Managing kitchen staff, including carrying out appraisals.
  • Managing stock control, stocktaking and standards monitoring tasks.
  • Responsible for the security of the kitchen.
