Duke's Secondary School is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and reliable Learning Support Assistant to support the students and teachers throughout the busy academic year. Day to day duties involve helping the students follow class instructions, supporting the teacher with behaviour management, and helping prepare lesson materials. The ideal candidate will be resilient, organised and able to work both independently and as a part of a team in a busy classroom environment. You will assist the teacher with the delivery of the lesson and help the students engage in activities. Please note, part time (16 hours per week) and full time (32.5 hours per week) are available. Both roles are term time plus 5 additional days.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support students in their access of learning
  • Encourage students to engage in, and participate in learning activities set by the class teacher
  • Establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to the needs of each individual child
  • Support the teacher in the management of student behaviour
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources required to meet student activities and assist learners in their use
