We\'re looking to recruit a Security and Operations Lead in Newcastle.

In this role, you will lead Security and Network Operations team.

Your responsibilities, alongside managing your Security and Network team, will revolve around North Standard's ever-evolving technology stack, threat landscape and regulatory obligations.

What will you be doing?

Your main duties will include

  • Providing line management to a developing team of Security and Network engineers and technicians
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Security and Network strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Deliver and drive roadmap initiatives and projects to completion
  • Continuously review technical, organisational and procedural controls to ensure the overall control framework can protect against emerging risks and threats
  • Champion a user-centric approach to securing the digital workspace design, focusing on improving the overall user experience and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards by maintaining effective policies, processes and procedures.
  • Lead cyber incident triage, escalation, coordination and post-incident improvement activity.
  • Act as an operational lead during cyber incidents, ensuring clear ownership, calm coordination and timely escalation.
  • Drive consistent alert handling, investigation standards and evidence capture across the team.
  • Support operational resilience by improving readiness for phishing, malware, account compromise, data loss and network/security control failures.
  • Work closely with internal teams and third-party providers to ensure timely response, containment, remediation and communication.

About You - Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Proven experience in managing all aspect of security and networking platforms, and related technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain cyber incidents, operational risks and technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Proven experience managing security and networking platforms, operational cyber controls and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and security operations best practice.
  • Practical experience supporting or leading cyber incident triage, investigation, escalation, containment, remediation and post-incident review activity.
  • Experience working with security monitoring, alerting and response tools such as SIEM, XDR, EDR, email security, identity protection, firewall, network monitoring or managed SOC services.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a lead/management role
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Security and Networking role
