Are you a Dublin-based solicitor looking to apply your litigation skills in a commercial, international environment? This role offers the chance to specialise in maritime claims while working closely with industry experts and global stakeholders. The role involves ensuring smooth and cost-effective resolutions for a variety of FD&D claims, while building and maintaining strong relationships with Members and brokers. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with different functions like P&I Claims, Loss Prevention, and Underwriting. You'll also be involved in preparing reports, assisting with audits, and supporting business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling a high-volume and variety of FD&D claims for owners and charterers in accordance with the FD&D policies and procedures; ensuring claims are resolved in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Managing relationships with Members and brokers, ensuring they receive the highest levels of service.
- Close collaboration with colleagues working within the P&I Claims, Loss Prevention, and Underwriting functions in terms of claims handling, identifying risk trends, and relationship management.
- Preparing agendas, reports, and informing the sector of any significant developments, as required by functional or sector management.
- Assisting with audits and peer reviews and assisting to develop and improve claims handling and operational processes, as required.
- Working closely with the Head of FD&D Claims and other colleagues, as required, to support any business development activities and networking with Members and customers (locally and overseas).
- Supporting the sector to build and maintain a high-performing and inclusive team environment while collaborating with our enabling functions.
- Acquiring and maintaining a good understanding of, and acting in accordance with, company-wide, functional, and sectoral rules, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Actively contributing to claims initiatives and Expertise Teams, as required.
About you
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Essential
- England & Wales or Ireland qualified Solicitor or equivalent. Ideally within the NQ-5-year PQE range. Training will be available so this may present an exciting opportunity for litigation lawyers to specialise in maritime.
- IT Literate with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- Efficient and effective administration skills.
- Communicates effectively.
- Ability to assist with cases in a controlled, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to cope with demanding workloads.
Desirable
- Some experience in handling shipping disputes in litigation (in either court or arbitration) or equivalent experience in commercial litigation is desired but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of shipping terms, common ship operations and the P&I insurance industry would also be desirable but not essential.
