SEN Teacher in Liverpool

Birtenshaw is looking to appoint an experienced SEN Teacher to work within our school in Fazakerley.

Birtenshaw School Merseyside is an independent special school offering education for children aged 3-19 who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), for pupils with significant physical impairment, complex health needs, learning disability and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions. The main duties / responsibilities will include:

• To maintain an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice.
• To effectively co-ordinate the work across the school in at least one given subject or key skill area as agreed with the Head Teacher.
• To communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, preparing reports for and participating in child focused meetings, as required.
• To recognise, value and raise the achievement of children.
• To use effective teaching strategies and lesson structures to deliver the curriculum.
• To promote social and emotional development, positive behaviour and, where appropriate to the age group taught, to prepare for adulthood.

Purpose built facilities including: a sensory soft play room, multi-sensory room with immersive technology, sensory integration room, rebound therapy room and a 25 metre hydrotherapy pool with multi-sensory sound and light system.
