The Opportunity
This is more than just a job; it’s a mission. As a Principal ILS & Obsolescence Engineer, you will play a key role in the continued development and growth of Integrated Logistics Support and Obsolescence Engineering across our UK programmes. You will work on prestigious maritime programmes that significantly contribute to the future of UK Defence, providing expertise across the full product life cycle.
Working as part of our ILS & Obsolescence team and reporting to the ILS & Obsolescence Lead, you will use your technical capability, leadership and coaching skills to support the delivery of complex products. You will also act as a trusted representative of ILS within major programmes, supporting stakeholders and helping shape the long‑term sustainment of critical systems.

Role Responsibilities
- Drive the application and development of ILS processes across key programmes.
- Provide subject matter expertise to engineering teams throughout the product life cycle.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Oversee ILS activity at all life cycle stages, ensuring programme alignment and quality.
- Provide technical leadership to suppliers and partner organisations.
Candidate Requirements
Essential- Proven experience applying ILS and Obsolescence Engineering methods and techniques.
- Degree‑qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong communication and people‑focused skills.
- Experience managing external customer and supplier relationships.
- Aptitude for leadership, coaching and team support.
- Experience working within defence, maritime or complex engineering environments.
