As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and manage all aspects of assigned projects, working closely with Team Leads, the Engineering Delivery Manager and Chief Engineer. You will manage customer contracts, ensure successful delivery, track KPIs and develop strategies, plans and business cases in partnership with our engineering teams. You will operate across the full project lifecycle - including supporting business development activities ahead of contract award. Within our UK Defence business, you will contribute to a sovereign software and systems centre of excellence. Our technology underpins the modern backbone of the Royal Navy and delivers multi-domain command and control systems across the UK and internationally. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects, acting as a key liaison between project teams, planning and line management.
- Support the Programme or Account Manager in managing relationships with partners, suppliers and stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with agreements and best practice.
- Support the Business Development function in pursuing and capturing new opportunities through to contract award.
- Launch, organise, plan, document and manage all allocated projects to deliver on commitments within the agreed schedule and budget.
- Implement and maintain all aspects of project management, including scope, quality, procurement, schedule, finance, risk, opportunities and communications.
- Ensure accurate financial tracking, including cost accounting and forecasting to maintain a realistic estimate at completion.
- Experience managing projects within a production, manufacturing or hardware-focused environment, ideally involving low-rate or prototype build activity.
- Strong background in electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical hardware development, integration or production.
- Proven experience overseeing product lifecycles, from design and prototyping through to production readiness and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships, manufacturing partners, build schedules and production risks.
- Experience coordinating engineering, production and quality teams to meet time, cost and quality commitments.
- Knowledge of production planning, configuration control, and change management in a hardware environment.
- Understanding of assembly, testing and verification processes for electrical or electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to work with technical specialists to resolve design-for-manufacture challenges and ensure smooth transition into production.
- Experience managing projects with complex hardware dependencies, including component availability, build sequencing and integration constraints.
- Exposure to control systems or low-rate volume production (not essential, but highly beneficial).
