Sperry Marine is a leading supplier of navigation, communication, information, and automation systems for commercial marine and naval markets. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team as a Branch Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller for the Americas, this is a key role responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial reporting while ensuring full compliance with local regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will apply accounting principles to analyse financial information and produce high-quality reports that support business decision-making. The role involves maintaining and overseeing financial controls across areas such as expenses, disbursements, tax payments and income.
Key responsibilities:- Preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and consolidated financial reports
- Analysing and recording financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Reviewing and verifying financial data and reporting outputs
- Maintaining and improving accounting systems to ensure effective financial tracking
- Ensuring adherence to accounting and auditing policies and procedures
- Supporting a robust and efficient month-end close process
This is a high-impact role where your decisions will influence business performance and long-term outcomes. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, as errors could have significant financial and operational implications. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing expert financial insight and guidance. You will also liaise with external stakeholders as required, representing the organisation on key financial matters.
About You:You are a confident and technically strong accounting professional who thrives in a complex and fast-paced environment. You bring both expertise and innovation to your work. Ideally, you will:
- Be highly advanced in Excel, with the ability to manage and analyse large datasets effectively
- Have extensive experience of working within a robust month-end close process
- Be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision and taking ownership of your workload

- Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to handle complex tasks
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach
- Clear and effective communication skills, including the ability to present technical information
- Experience developing new approaches, techniques, or standards

- Exercises sound judgement and takes ownership of outcomes
- Confident in setting objectives and determining appropriate approaches
