Opportunity:

As the PMO Risk Manager at Northrop Grumman you will be responsible for leading risk management in a portfolio of complex projects delivering technology solutions to UK Defence. In line with departmental procedures, you will develop, maintain and execute a robust risk management framework, enabling the adoption of risk management best practice across the department’s portfolio to ensure delivery of value to our customers.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, embed and manage an effective and robust risk management framework
- Work with Project and Programme Management colleagues to agree and assist with the management of programme, project and portfolio risks, ensuring a holistic risk management strategy is kept up to date
- Facilitate regular risk workshops and reviews, conducting or facilitating Quantitative Cost & Schedule Analyses of individual projects and programmes, and assurance of the outputs
- Work with the PMO Manager as required to support development, roll out and embedding of risk management, financial, change, reporting, planning and other assurance or governance improvements
- Develop and maintain company procedures, processes and systems on project, programme and portfolio risk management in accordance with our risk framework
- Lead the rollout of risk best practice, ensuring staff are trained and providing ongoing coaching for staff as required
- Deliver regular monthly risk reporting and deliver efficiencies in the production of management information, including communicating the level of risk exposure at the portfolio level
- Facilitate risk workshops with projects and programmes and assist with the production of project and programme risk registers and risk management plans
- The PMO Risk Manager will work with Programme and Project Managers across the business unit, helping the identification of thematic risks, issues, cross dependencies and constraints across projects and producing updates on mitigation progress
- The PMO Risk Manager will support and assure the risk management process from project pre-initiation through to execution and closure
- Communicate effectively with a range of external and internal stakeholders at all levels and functions

We are looking for:
- Significant, demonstrable experience in risk management, project assurance, reporting and analysis in defence or other regulated industry
- Awareness of commercial operations, and/or prime contract experience, ideally in a SSRO QSC/CAAS reporting environment
- Strong excel skills, experience of using Power BI or similar and expert user of Risk Management / Analysis software (e.g. ARM, @Risk or similar)
- Advanced analytical skills and ability to cross reference risk, financial, schedule and resource data
- Substantial experience of generating risk management information, setting up and running risk reporting and conduct of risk assurance
- A strong disposition for professionally maintaining project-wide adherence and compliance to risk processes, and procedures, sometimes in the face of adversity
- Providing training and/or mentoring within a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication (both written/verbal) and listening skills; an enthusiasm to volunteer and share opinions and views with internal and external stakeholders, and an ability to persuade others
- Professional qualifications in project management (e.g. P30, PMQ) and/or risk management (e.g. Management of Risk) and/or membership of a related professional organisation e.g. MAPM, ChPP, PMP
- Security level SC UK (UK eyes only – single UK Nationality) required or ability to gain
