Opportunity

This role supports the increasing need to protect our national security through the development of products and solutions in an Agile environment. Working on strategically important National Defence Programmes, the Agile Coach / Lead Scrum Master is accountable for the effectiveness of their teams. They do this by supporting the adoption and application of lean‑agile practices, both within their teams and the wider organisation, through coaching, mentoring and facilitating.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a servant‑leader and facilitator to support teams in the day‑to‑day operation of their lean‑agile practices and work across several teams in an advisory/coaching and assurance capacity.
  • Actively facilitate team‑of‑teams events (e.g. Planning Interval Planning, Continuous Improvement Workshops) and supporting activities such as roadmap development to ensure that the relevant objectives are achieved.
  • Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate.
  • Support the team in identifying and tracking metrics and data to support data driven decision making.
  • Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Support the organisation with change initiatives and continuous improvement with a focus on lean‑agile principles.
  • Develop and grow a team of Scrum Masters / Team Coaches.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications / experience

  • Practical experience of servant‑leadership in agile teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of lean‑agile principles, practices and methods.
  • Excellent organisational and facilitation skills.
  • Adept with Jira or similar tools including data analysis.
  • Holds an advanced Scrum Master certification e.g. PSM II / III, SASM.
  • Experience of Agile Coaching or qualifications including ICP‑ATF, ICP‑ACC or ICE‑AC.
  • Experience of and/or certification in agile‑at‑scale framework e.g. SAFe, LeSS, Nexus.
