My client are a Hertfordshire based Housing Association operating across Hertfordshire and a number of surrounding counties. They manage thousands of homes and employ a large number of staff across their schemes in the area. They have recently re-shaped the IT function and been through the implementation of Azure to better support their network of employees and residents.

They are looking to hire a Platform Engineer to join the team. This person will support and maintain their Azure cloud infrastructure, wide and local area networks, and on-premises infrastructure, coupled with hosted applications. The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage and optimise Azure cloud services, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Key responsibilities:
  • Maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Manage on-premise infrastructure, including servers, storage, and network devices.
  • Manage Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and networking components.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with the infrastructure.
  • Maintain and support wide and local area networks, ensuring reliable connectivity and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud and network infrastructure in a timely manner.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and policies to ensure clear and consistent operations.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually improve infrastructure and services.
Person specification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, with a focus on Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure services, including VMs, App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, and Networking.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with wide and local area network management and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with on-premise infrastructure management, including servers and storage.
