Head of Treasury Markets and Products – Oman
My client is a leading Bank based in Oman undergoing a significant change programme to transform the bank’s offering from a digital perspective. This will take in both the front end customer experience and back office capability to drive a more effective all-round offering.
To help ensure the critical strategic objectives are met across the organisation, my client is looking to hire a Head of Treasury Markets and Products. Please note, this role requires full relocation to Oman.
Job Description & Role Specification
The Head of Treasury Markets and Products is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all treasury functions within the bank, ensuring that the treasury activities align with the bank\’s strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and financial goals. This includes liquidity management, asset-liability management (ALM), balance sheet management (BSM), foreign exchange operations, fixed income trading, risk management, and compliance with local regulatory frameworks, such as those set by the CBO and MSX. The role also involves close collaboration with senior leadership to drive business growth, optimize financial performance, and mitigate financial risks.

Education requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field (essential).
- Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or MBA (preferred).
- A strong understanding of the banking sector, treasury functions, and financial markets.
Experience requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in treasury management, financial markets, or related banking functions, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role within a bank.
- Proven expertise in liquidity management, asset-liability management (ALM), risk management, and regulatory compliance, particularly with CBO, Basel III, and MSX regulations.
- Managed large-scale portfolios, including: FX trading books ranging from USD 500 million to 2 billion, ensuring profitability while mitigating currency risks; Fixed income investments between USD 1 – 5 billion, optimizing liquidity, risk, and returns in government bonds and Sukuks.
- Derivatives and structured products with exposures up to USD 1 billion, providing risk management solutions tailored for corporate and institutional clients.
- Led funding and capital management strategies, ensuring sustainable liquidity and cost-efficient access to financial markets.
- Strong leadership experience, with a history of managing high-performing treasury teams, engaging with regulators, and driving balance sheet strategy at an executive level.
