A growing, mission-driven biotechnology organisation is seeking a Business Support Manager to partner directly with its Chief Scientific Officer. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen executive delivery, strategic coordination and stakeholder alignment at the highest level of the business. The organisation operates at the forefront of translational science and drug development, working across complex scientific programmes and high-profile partnerships.
This position goes well beyond traditional executive support. It requires commercial awareness, strong written capability, disciplined execution and the confidence to operate at board and investor level.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CSO, you will act as a strategic operator within the Office of the CSO — ensuring priorities are translated into action, communications are clear, and initiatives move forward at pace. You will work alongside an Executive Assistant, but your remit is broader: structured planning, project coordination, stakeholder management and high-level communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure and manage the CSO’s forward agenda, ensuring alignment to scientific and corporate priorities
- Prepare executive briefings, board materials, investor updates and external communications
- Manage senior stakeholder liaison across leadership team, research partners, funders and collaborators
- Triage and manage high-volume, high-sensitivity communications
- Lead coordination of business planning cycles and CSO team meetings
- Attend key meetings, capture outcomes and ensure disciplined follow-through
- Conduct research and analysis to support informed executive decision-making
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical process improvements
About You
You are experienced in supporting C-suite leaders within complex, high-growth environments — ideally biotech, pharma, healthcare, or science-led organisations. You combine structured thinking with sound judgement and high emotional intelligence.
Experience & Capability
- Significant experience supporting executive-level leadership
- Strong project coordination and delivery skills
- Exceptional written communication — able to draft materials for board and external audiences
- Confident engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesise complex information quickly
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-moving environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools (including AI-enabled platforms)
Why This Role?
- High visibility across scientific, operational and strategic initiatives
- Opportunity to shape how the Office of the CSO operates
- A collaborative, science-led culture focused on meaningful impact
This is an opportunity for a senior operator who thrives in structured but ambitious environments and wants to play a meaningful role in accelerating scientific innovation.
