Are you building your career in finance and currently working towards an accounting qualification?
We are partnering with an established and growing financial services business in Liverpool to recruit a Finance Assistant to join its commercial Finance team.
This is not an entry-level finance role. We are looking for someone who already has good practical experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar position and is now looking for greater exposure, responsibility and development.
You may be studying towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA, AAT or another recognised accounting qualification. The specific qualification is less important than your experience, capability and ambition to progress.
The role
Working closely with senior members of the Finance team, you will support a broad range of commercial finance activity including:
- Bank, payment, invoice and ledger reconciliations
- Supplier payment runs and stakeholder payments
- Employee expenses and financial controls
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and financial data
- Supporting monthly reporting and management information
- Assisting with budgets and rolling forecasts
- Investigating discrepancies and resolving financial queries
- Producing spreadsheets, reports and analysis using Excel
- Supporting wider finance, treasury and operational projects as required
You will work across the business, so this would suit someone comfortable communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders rather than working purely within transactional accounts.
What we are looking for
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a commercial finance, accounts or assistant accountant role
- Experience working within a professional business environment
- Good understanding of reconciliations, ledgers, payments and financial controls
- Experience using accounting or finance systems
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders across a business
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership
- Be studying towards, or part-qualified in, a recognised accounting qualification
Experience within financial services, lending, property finance or another regulated environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Why consider it?
This is a strong opportunity for someone who has built the foundations of their finance career and now wants broader commercial exposure.
Alongside a salary of Β£35,000 - Β£40,000 depending on experience, the business offers:
- Flexible start and finish times
- Discretionary bonus
- Annual salary reviews
- Generous annual leave
- Option to buy or sell holiday
- Life assurance and income protection
- Enhanced family leave
- Learning and development support
The role is full-time and hybrid, with an expectation of around 3 days per week in the Liverpool office.
You must have full right to work in the UK.
