Were seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Specialist to support exciting projects in a highly regulated and technical industry. This role will involve designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards throughout their lifecycle. Youll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver solutions that align with demanding performance and safety requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs, including 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings, adhering to industry best practices and specifications.
- Perform in-depth analysis of design challenges, including non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to implement design modifications and ensure seamless integration into manufacturing.
- Oversee the documentation process for design updates, issue tracking, and resolution actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance design and production processes.
- Apply expertise in materials selection, structural analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software for modeling and drawing creation (Solid Edge experience preferred).
- Proven track record designing mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems, including those for heavy engineering applications such as power transmission systems and gearboxes.
- Solid understanding of structural design methodologies, with experience implementing significant structural modifications.
- Familiarity with subsystems affecting overall mechanical layouts and designs.
Key Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in mechanical design within highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or heavy engineering.
- Comprehensive knowledge of quality management frameworks (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to precision and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams effectively.
