Phlebotomist in Calne

Overview

Northlands Surgery is looking for a qualified, experienced phlebotomist to work 19 hours per week within our busy growing practice. Working Hours: Monday and Tuesday 2pm to 6pm; Wednesday and Thursday 2pm to 7:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Join an already well-established, experienced and supportive nursing team.
• Ensure that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and obtain consent for the collection of a blood sample.
• Collect sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
• Ensure that samples are stored in appropriate containers and are accurately and legibly labelled to confirm patient identity.
• Check patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirm with the patient whenever possible.
• Record collection of blood sample in the patient record in accordance with practice procedure.
• Ensure that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
• Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
• Notify the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues.
• Liaise with and assist members of the administrative team.
