About the Role
Northland Controls is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Letchworth. This is a key role supporting both the Finance function and the wider business, with responsibility across core accounting activities, financial reporting, audits, and international transactions.
The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, financial analyses, and account reconciliations.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and records.
- Meet all processing, reporting, and regulatory deadlines.
- Respond to information requests and assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure accurate internal and external reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and liaise with external parties including auditors, accountants, banks, vendors, tax authorities, and insurance providers.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and optimise financial results.
- Work closely with international finance teams on global initiatives and cross-border transactions.
- Manage cash and banking activities.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Finance team and wider business as required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (5+ years total accounting experience preferred).
- Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of organisation and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ethical standards and professional integrity.
Desirable
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP or NetSuite highly beneficial).
- Experience working with international transactions and multi-entity accounts.
- Knowledge of tax, audit, and regulatory compliance.
This role does not have direct reports but works closely with colleagues and provides financial insights to management.
This is a full-time, office-based role in Letchworth. The position is primarily sedentary. No travel is required. Candidates must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
