Northland Controls Limited is seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Letchworth, UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Plans and schedules engineering, installation, and subcontracting on all projects.
- Maintains current job plans and specifications. Works with engineering on the design of projects.
- Prepares project estimates and proposals.
- Coordinates procurement of materials and services; ensures timely delivery to site.
- Prepares project installation plan, manages the plan and prepares and implements job procedures.
- Maintains construction schedule and coordinates scheduling with other trades.
- Selects and monitors the performance of subcontractors.
- Maintains all records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records and prepares reports for internal and external use.
- Implements quality assurance program to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Develops a relationship with the decision makers of customers.
- Routinely walks job site to ensure quality installation.
- Responsible for customer satisfaction.
- Studies literature and attends seminars to stay abreast of new products and processes.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally as per project and client requirements.
Monitors job status and controls job costs:
- Provides information to determine labour and material resources on a weekly basis.
- Assists management in weekly and monthly forecasting.
- Ensures timecards are accurate and filled out completely with job numbers.
- Reviews financial statements and other management tools to ensure proper job management, cost controls and problem resolution.
- Supervises the preparation of base data required for ongoing job billing.
- Devises a plan of action to remedy any project problems and implements plans to assure project profitability.
Job Closure:
- Responsible for completing record drawings.
- Responsible for completing all paperwork, POs are closed, Notices of Completion (NOC) are submitted, and jobs are turned over to service.
- Job is 100% billed.
- Job close out reports are completed.
Commissioning:
- Populate projection sheets, commissioning sheets plans, mark-up drawings, and co-ordinate with Program Managers in the commissioning of systems.
- Manage onsite changes to the physical installation to meet standards.
- Basic level test, program and troubleshoot access control and digital network video systems.
- Commission systems and be responsible for testing and handover of the finished installation to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Complete all commissioning and hand over documentation.
- Follow assigned projects to final adjustments, commissioning and sign off.
- Ensure on-site clients are trained in the use of the installed system.
- Provide technical support to clients and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Access Control and CCTV system design.
- Demonstrated design expertise with Lenel OnGuard and Milestone CCTV systems (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a project management role.
- Previous experience with system installation and/or technical support is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across their full lifecycle, from concept and design through implementation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region to attend project kick-offs, coordination meetings, and site sign-offs.
- Excellent organizational skills with clear, professional communication abilities.
- Highly self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
