This is an exciting opportunity to join Northgate Vehicle Hire as a Lead Project Designer, playing a pivotal role in the growth and delivery of our EV charging infrastructure solutions. Combining technical expertise, commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management skills, you’ll lead the design and development of tailored EV charging projects for customers across the UK.
Working closely with the Sales Manager and wider project teams, you’ll take a consultative approach to understand customer requirements, conduct site surveys, develop innovative charging solutions and present compelling project proposals. You’ll also oversee contractor relationships, ensure compliance with industry standards and health & safety requirements, and support the successful transition from design through to project delivery.

About You
We're looking for a customer-focused and technically skilled professional with experience in EV charging, electrical infrastructure, or a related technical field. You'll be confident engaging with customers, developing tailored solutions, and managing multiple stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
- A Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 and electrical installation standards
- C&G 2919 – Electric Vehicle Installations
- C&G 2391 Test and Inspection qualification
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within electrical installation projects
- Experience designing and delivering electrical infrastructure or EV charging projects
- Strong customer engagement and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing contractors and third‑party suppliers
- Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong commercial awareness
It would also be beneficial if you have a Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations and experience within the EV charging sector.
