Location: Shrewsbury

Salary: Up to £13.70 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: 8am - 10pm

Shifts: 3 out of 8 weekend days per month

Child-centred rota with shifts varying week to week (provided 1 month in advance)

The Role

As a Residential Support Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, who may be verbal or non-verbal and may have associated medical needs. You’ll act as a positive role model within the home, providing leadership and guidance to the staff team while ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered consistently. You’ll help create a therapeutic, child-centred environment where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered. Full training is provided, alongside a clear and tailored career pathway to support your continued professional development. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, therapeutic support to children and young people
  • Act as a leader, role model, and shift co-ordinator within the home
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a warm, homely, and therapeutic environment
  • Deliver and review care plans daily, ensuring young people’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met
  • Guide, support, and challenge colleagues to maintain best practice
  • Ensure decisions are always made in the best interests of the children and the organisation
  • Remain vigilant to safeguarding concerns, recognising and responding to signs of distress, neglect, or abuse
  • Role model Unique Care Group’s cultural values and behavioural expectations
  • Work collaboratively with managers, professionals, and external partners

What We're Looking For

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (required)
  • Previous Team Leader experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities
  • Confidence working with Ofsted and local authority partners
  • Experience managing day-to-day situations within a residential setting
  • Experience supporting epilepsy is desirable but not essential
  • A driving licence is strongly preferred but not essential
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check
