NEC operates a managed service contract for London Tribunals which includes the provision of a high quality front of house reception team, based at London Tribunals’ hearing centre at 24 Martin Lane London EC4R 0DR. We have a vacancy within this team and are looking for a motivated, conscientious and friendly professional to join our team.
London Tribunals supports the Environment and Traffic Adjudicators (ETA) and the Road User Charging Adjudicators (RUCA), which are the independent tribunals that determine appeals against Penalty Charge Notices issued by the London Local Authorities and Transport for London. London Tribunals is one of the busiest tribunals in the country, providing an independent appeals service to around 60,000 people each year.
This role plays a key part in delivering excellent customer service across London Tribunals. You will form an important part of a small team and be the initial point of contact for the public attending appeal hearings.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will provide a high quality service to independent adjudicators, colleagues across administrative and processing teams as well as the public attending the hearing centre. You will work within a set of mature business processes and procedures, administering tasks to support the overall service on a daily basis. You will undertake key tasks which underpin the appeal hearing process and must be performed in an efficient manner and to a high standard.
Excellent customer/client service skills, including excellent verbal and written communication, are required for this role. You will cultivate a welcoming environment, creating a positive and professional experience for everyone using and working at London Tribunals.
QualificationsJob Purpose:
- Using judgement, intellectual ability and initiative, complete tasks and undertake instructions from the NPS Client Services Manager and adjudicators, in line with established policies and procedures;
- Actively contribute in the delivery of a comprehensive support service within London Tribunals;
- Complete tasks within the reception assistants’ area of work and, concentrating on the busiest areas in a fast-paced work environment, play a full part in contributing to the output of the team;
- Deal with a wide range of personal, written and telephone enquiries to the service, and queries from adjudicators;
- Identify case management issues and enquiries which require the attention of London Tribunals’ management team and tribunal assistants, undertake preliminary enquiries and refer on where necessary.
- Experience in a front of house reception role within a formal environment, working effectively as part of a team to deliver a high-quality public-facing service;
- Experience of working in a legal environment (desirable);
- Experience of working with a legal case management software application (desirable);
- A clear understanding of working in a statutory environment and dealing with service users who may be unhappy with a tribunal decision in their case (desirable);
- Clear understanding of the nature of administering an appeals service with independent adjudicators making legally binding decisions (desirable);
- Experience in using ICT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel (essential) and Google Sheets and Gmail (desirable).
Working hours are 37.5 per week, covering Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:30.
