Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

With a Focus on Special Educational Needs andDisabilities (SEND)

• Start Date: October 2026 / Immediate start
• Apprenticeship: Level 3 or Level 5 (dependant onexperience)
• Hours: 08:00am - 03:30pm (35 hours per week, term-timeonly)
• Salary - Level 3: £20,273 FTE / £16,532 pro-rata.
• Salary - Level 5: £23,100 FTE / £18,838 pro-rata.
• Expected Duration: 12 - 21months

The Norton Knatchbull School are lookingfor an organised, professional, positive and resilient apprentice to join ourschool community. Thesuccessful candidate will gain experience working 1:1 with students within asecondary school environment. You will engage and motivate pupils who findlearning a challenge and have specific learning difficulties including SEMH,ASD/ASC and ADHD. The ability to interact positively with a wide range ofpeople, including teachers, support staff, parents and students aged 11 to 18,is essential.

Whatyou will do in your working day

• Providesupport for students 1:1 and in small groups to access learning.
• Keepdetailed records of learning / observations and provide students and teacherswith feedback to inform of subsequent provision.
• Builda clear understanding of students learning with reference to the relevantNational Curriculum and school assessment documents.
• Organiseand deliver small group interventions.
• Provideeffective support for colleagues.
• Workin close partnership with teachers / parents / carers to improve studentoutcomes.
• Keepabreast of current developments in Additional Educational Needs.
• Contributeto the management of pupil behaviour.
• Contributeto the safeguarding, health and wellbeing of pupils.
• Provideadministrative and organisational support for the Inclusion Manager.
• Promoteequality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
• Considerthe information that is shared with other stakeholders, ensuring that wherenecessary and appropriate, confidentiality is maintained.

Thetraining you will receive

Delivered by Heart of EnglandTraining (HOET), this apprenticeship includes:

• Specialist training in SEND,social and emotional well-being, and curriculum provision (Level 5)
• Four mandatory daycourses: Regulation & Guidance, Advancing Learning, Planning &Assessment, and Professionalism & Communication.
• A structured programme ofon-the-job training, mock assessments, and professional discussions.
• A final End Pointassessment including observation and portfolio-based discussion.

EntryRequirements for the Level 3:

• Level 2 English and Maths (GCSEGrade 5 or above)

EntryRequirements for the Level 5:

• Level 3 Teaching Assistantqualification
• Level 2 English and Maths (GCSEGrade 5 or above)

What to expect at the end of yourapprenticeship

• After the apprenticeship there is potential to be hired as a full member of staff.
