All aboard Northern! – We’re on the lookout for dedicated night shift Cleaners to ensure our trains are spotless and ready for seamless journeys. Do you have that sparkle?

Do you take pride in your work and show dedication? Are you hardworking and dependable? We’re looking for reliable individuals to join our team of Train Cleaners, making sure our trains are clean, hygienic, and ready to roll across the North.

  • Customer Focus: By delivering spotless trains, you’re directly contributing to our passengers’ positive experience, ensuring they have a pleasant and clean environment for their journey.
  • Team working: Collaborating with your team to maintain high cleaning standards and ensure our trains are spotless for customers. Topping up supplies in the toilets, like soap and toilet paper.
  • Building Relationships: Confidently interacting with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Taking Pride: Paying attention to detail and taking pride in keeping our trains clean and our colleagues’ work environments hygienic. Cleaning tables, windows, and touch-points.
  • Using Initiative: Proactively tackling any significant cleaning issues that could impact train services, such as spills of blood or vomit, and ensuring they are resolved quickly and safely. Removing litter and emptying bins.

Are you:

  • Thorough and Detail-Oriented? On our night shifts, you\’ll be part of one of two dedicated cleaning teams: Full Clean or Deep Clean. You’ll ensure our trains are spotless and ready for the next day’s passengers, maintaining a high standard of hygiene and functionality.
  • Comfortable with Specialist Equipment? As part of the Deep Clean team, you\’ll be trained to use specialist tools to tackle ingrained dirt across all areas of the train, ensuring no spot is missed and our trains remain in peak condition.
  • Adaptable and Resilient? You’re comfortable working both outdoors and onboard trains, handling different weather conditions and changing demands with ease.
  • Flexible? You’re prepared to adapt to varying schedules, including working weekends and bank holidays, ensuring our trains remain clean and safe for passengers year-round.
  • Keen to Learn and Grow? No prior cleaning experience is required—our comprehensive training will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.
  • Active? Expect to reach a daily goal of 10,000 steps while keeping our trains clean and safe for everyone.

Please note this role is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position, or your application will be automatically rejected:

  • Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Pass the safety critical medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
  • Not have defective colour vision.
