Safety Critical Role. We keep the railway moving 24/7, with expected shifts including days, nights, and weekends. Every train that leaves the facility carries thousands of journeys – and it starts with the people who keep it running.

Reports to: Shift Production Manager. Salary: £51,575.00 per annum.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver planned servicing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of trains and components in line with facility standards.
  • Diagnose faults and apply mechanical and electrical knowledge to fix them.
  • Complete all work to the required standards, with accurate and accountable sign‑off.
  • Work closely with your team leader to prioritise and progress tasks.
  • Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
  • Carry out minor repairs to plant and equipment where needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised work area.
  • Support colleagues and share knowledge across the team.
  • Consistently demonstrate the behaviours and standards expected across the facility.
  • Provide on‑the‑job guidance to apprentices, trainees, and new starters.

Additional Duties (depending on skills):

  • Undertake welding, brazing, or burning tasks.
  • Carry out air conditioning maintenance.
  • Support surface preparation and patch painting.

About You:

  • A recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 competence in an engineering discipline or equivalent military engineering qualifications.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • The ability to read and follow technical and safety instructions.
  • Confidence working independently and managing your own workload.
  • Good communication skills and a team‑focused approach.
  • A willingness to keep learning and building your skills.
  • Work safely, take responsibility for your actions, and look out for people around you.
