We're looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Support Manager to lead the tactical delivery of Health & Safety across our Engineering function, ensuring a consistent, risk‑based approach that supports safe and reliable railway operations.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Business Partner, you'll coordinate a team of Health & Safety Support Managers, oversee assurance activities, drive continuous improvement and ensure our Safety Management System is effectively embedded across Engineering.
- What you’ll do
- Lead and coordinate Health & Safety delivery across Engineering.
- Support the implementation of Health & Safety strategy and continuous improvement plans.
- Oversee audit programmes, investigations and the effective closure of corrective actions.
- Coach and support Health & Safety Support Managers to deliver a consistent, high‑quality service.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends, manage risk and improve safety outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with Engineering leaders and key stakeholders across the business.
- Deputise for the Health & Safety Business Partner when required.
About you
You will be an experienced Health & Safety professional with strong leadership and influencing skills, ideally gained within rail or another heavy industrial environment.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Professional membership of IOSH (Cert IOSH or above) or IIRSM (MIIRSM or above).
- Significant experience managing Health & Safety within rail or heavy industry.
- Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and Safety Management Systems.
- The ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and deliver meaningful improvements.
ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, LEEA Foundation Certificate and ISEP Foundation Certificate are desirable.
