Role / Department
This senior product leadership role drives strategy and long term direction across Northern Trust’s Elevate platform, leading the full product lifecycle from discovery through launch and ongoing performance management.
Reporting to the Head of Product Management, this individual sets product vision, defines strategic priorities, and aligns roadmaps with business goals and market opportunities while overseeing product teams across compliance, risk, performance, Front Office Solutions, portfolio analytics, sustainability solutions, thought leadership, proprietary indicators, and data solutions.
- The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include
- Leads the full product lifecycle and the activities that support the delivery of capabilities and services, including:
- Discovery and innovation: derives market insights and shapes product strategy.
- New product planning: leads concept development, feasibility assessment, and product definition.
- New product introduction: oversees product development and launch.
- Post launch product management: oversees performance and lifecycle management.
- Aligns product strategy with broader business goals and objectives.
- Develops and executes product roadmaps with a three to five year horizon in partnership with the Product Executive, Business Stakeholders, and Technology Lead to ensure strategic alignment and feasibility.
- Provides strategic oversight of product teams across Northern Trust’s Elevate platform, including compliance, risk, performance, Front Office Solutions, portfolio analytics, sustainability solutions, thought leadership, proprietary indicators, and data solutions.
- Assumes accountability for the overall performance and profitability of the area against plan.
- Establishes and monitors financial and market performance metrics for the product group.
- Assesses capital and expense investment needs based on trends, client needs, and roadmap priorities, and makes recommendations to the Product Executive and Business Stakeholders.
- Serves as the primary product contact for sales teams, communicates new features and value propositions, and oversees RFI, RFP, and due diligence responses.
- Represents the organization through product thought leadership at industry events, in publications, and at client events.
- Evaluates the impact of new regulations on the business and related product strategy.
- Ensures the reliability, performance, quality, and robustness of the product group.
- Manages financial and staffing resources, including capital and expense budgets, while partnering across functions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Leads multiple units or functions through the direct management of managers.
- Applies seasoned business judgment and broad functional expertise to lead strategically across the product group.
- Leads day to day product group activities to ensure business objectives are met.
Skills / Qualifications
- Proven years of relevant experience in product management, product strategy, or related leadership roles, including experience leading teams and managing complex product portfolios.
- Program or project management experience, including planning, analysis, design, and governance, is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex topics into clear, executive-ready materials.
- Strong relationship-building, influencing, and negotiation skills with clients, partners, and leaders across disciplines.
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
