Role / Department

Northern Trust’s Currency Management group offers a suite of currency hedging solutions that assists clients in addressing the FX exposure and volatility of their foreign assets. Join an established global team where you will be responsible for managing risk on behalf of our clients across a range of strategies and investment mandates. This will require being a trusted contact and point of expertise for both internal and external stakeholders, as well as working collaboratively with the trading desks and supporting teams to implement our solutions and achieve optimal outcomes.

The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include:

  • The analyst will support their senior partners and other team members in all aspects of the day to day duties of the currency management business with the dual goals of minimizing operational risk and delivering on currency hedging objectives for our clients.
  • Assist in the daily management of clients’ currency hedging portfolios.
  • Generate rebalance, flow and roll trades.
  • Monitor and assess portfolio performance.
  • Support the client servicing efforts with the preparation of client reporting packages and presentation materials.
  • Take initiative and drive process improvement.
  • Use your technical skills to work with our global teams to apply an innovative and forward-thinking mindset to the business and products.
  • Undertake bespoke research projects applied to the FX market.

Skills / Qualifications

  • This role would suit a STEM or Economics/Finance graduate with a base in logical reasoning.
  • You will be able to identify the governing dynamics underlying processes and transform your ideas into solutions through code and the use of AI.
  • This will form the basis to build a practical knowledge of financial markets.
  • Highly analytical mindset.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail producing high quality work with a high degree of accuracy whilst operating under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), you are able to work as part of a team as well as taking initiative to work independently on behalf of the team.
  • Flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment involving intra‑day deadlines.
  • Coding knowledge and proficiency in Excel.
  • An interest in FX and wider financial markets with a clear desire to learn more.
